Anti-Vaping Campaign
Did you know that more Huron Perth youth are vaping compared to the provincial average? Even if they’re in elementary school, there’s a good chance kids have been exposed to vaping (e-cigarettes) either at school, through friends, on social media, TV or in the movies.
In partnership with Huron Perth Public Health, AMDSB is also launching an anti-vaping campaign featuring initiatives for AMDSB staff (Professional Development training), students (poster campaigns, staff support initiative), and parents/guardians that aims to:
- Raise awareness about the risks of vaping:
- Watch this video from “Not An Experiment” to learn more about why vaping is an issue
- Review the parent information from “Not An Experiment” at: notanexperiment.ca/parents
- Equip parents/guardians with strategies on how to discuss the issue with their children and youth
- Read a brief handout about how to talk to kids about vaping
- Register for the free School Mental Health Ontario 5-part webinar series designed to help parents and caregivers navigate important topics related to substance use and addictive behaviours
- Provide resources and support for helping youth quit
