ABA Support Specialist - Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario (Full-Time, Permanent)

The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for the position of ABA Support Specialist, within the Learning Services department at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.

The Avon Maitland District School Board is a full service, public, English school district in southwestern Ontario, bordering Lake Huron and covering the counties of Huron and Perth. Nestled in the heart of Southwest Ontario, Huron and Perth Counties include rural farmland and backcountry roads along with areas of historic architecture, arts, culture, and the newest culinary trends.
 
In the geographical center of this thriving region is Avon Maitland’s Education Centre in Seaforth. The Board’s Administrative Offices are located here, and they contain the central support for 31 elementary and 8 secondary schools, approximately 1600 teachers and 900 support staff. The successful candidate will work as part of the Learning Services Team and will support and enhance the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis across the school board.

Key Responsibilities:

● Work as part of the Central Special Education Team to support school-based staff working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder implement all elements of Applied Behaviour Analysis
● Build trusting relationships with teachers, school administrators, support staff and students to model and support the implementation of applied behaviour analysis principles
● Facilitate professional development and learning for educators through a variety of delivery models
● Support the development of transition plans for ASD students
● Analyze data for the purpose of developing intervention plans
● Co-ordinate schedules for central team educational assistants who provide direct support and modelling of ABA strategies for school teams
● Work collaboratively and effectively with interdepartmental teams
● Participate in training sessions relevant to applied behavior analysis and Autism
● Attend case conferences and other meetings related to supporting students
● Travel as required to any school within the system-must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Other duties as assigned by the System Principal of Learning Services

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

● Master’s Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, Applied Disability Studies, Developmental Disabilities or Autism or Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) Certification or pending completion of supervised practice
● Certification and proven successful experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis
● Current BMS training
● Experience working in an inclusive school setting with a wide range of exceptionalities
● Strong organizational skills
● Proficient computer literacy skills, including Google Suite
● Demonstrated ability to contribute as a member of a collaborative team
● Good oral and written communication skills; including the ability to organize and present professional development within a school system

Compensation Package Details

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (12 months per year)
Rate of Pay: Currently the position is compensated at $63,782 - $74,276 in accordance with the
Terms and conditions of Employment for Non-Union, Management, Administrative and Supervisory Employees; This position is currently under review and compensation may be subject to change.
Pension Plan: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement
System (OMERS)
