About/Contact Us

CEL logo The Centre for Education & Learning (CEL) provides services for youth and adults throughout the Avon Maitland District School Board (Huron and Perth counties) as well as beyond through our online programs. Click on the titles below to find links to our program pages and read more about who we are and how to reach us!
It is our experience that adult learners are practical learners who want to integrate new ideas into what they already know. Adult learners want their learning to be relevant and useful. Adult learners want to achieve goals.

Most often, adult learners engage in learning to find a job, change careers or to maintain their current employment. They “learn to earn”.

The Centre for Education & Learning provides learning opportunities geared towards employment or further education. Our services are accessed by adult learners in whatever manner makes sense for the achievement of their goals. Most learning is self-paced, individualized and self-directed with the support of our staff. Our atmosphere is informal, positive and inviting, and we invite you to maximize your potential!
Mission
To welcome and support adults and youth as they develop and fulfill their unique learning goals.

Our Values
  • Commitment to community relationships and capacity building
  • Lifelong learning, growth and goal setting
  • Innovation
  • Empowerment and enriching lives
  • Needs based and solution focused approach
  • Teamwork
  • Every person, every time!
All members of the Centre for Education & Learning community, including staff and all participants in our programs, have the right to be safe, and feel safe, in our sites and in all of our programs.

With this right comes the responsibility to be law-abiding citizens, and to be accountable for actions that place at risk the safety or well-being of any person whether they are on our sites, in our remote programs, or in other circumstances that could have an impact on the CEL community. As part of the Avon Maitland District School Board, the board’s code of conduct, including Standards of Behaviour applies to all members of the CEL community. As stated in the Code of Conduct, consequences may range from warnings to suspension/expulsion or removal from programs.
We collect Impact on Community data on a monthly basis and analyze this data with a goal of continuous improvement and maximizing the impact of our programs and services on the Huron-Perth community and, in the case of our e-Channel Strategy, on the province. The Key Performance Indicators are exactly that: those indicators that we deem to have the most impact on our community.
